John Van Nortwick
Dr. Stephanie Van Nortwick has a strong passion for helping others and an equally intense inquisitiveness and love for science. Dr. Van Nortwick has devoted over 15 years to a career in national security where she applied her expertise in molecular biology and technology innovation to enhancing the nation's ability to detect and respond to infectious disease and advance our resiliency and security through biotechnology. Throughout those years, Dr. Van Nortwick also volunteered countless hours of her time as an EMT at her local fire station and served at her church as vocalist and worship leader for nearly a decade. Her own personal journey through post-partum depression, IBS, and chronic fatigue has taught her a lot about the path to health and well-being, which she has shared with others to help them find their own path. Dr. Van Nortwick holds a PhD in Plant Pathology and a BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, both from Oklahoma State University; and she is currently a medical student at the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Combined with Dr. Van Nortwick's love for horses and music, she is looking forward to creating a place of safety, compassion, and healing where medical science is more than a clinic.
Mr. John Van Nortwick is a fitness and nutrition expert that finds great joy in learning all he can on the topics and helping others find what works best for them. When not eating or weight lifting at the gym, Mr. Van Nortwick is working full time as Director of Safety at Drivewyze where he leads design and implementation of safety products for the transportation industry. Mr. Van Nortwick is also a seasoned bass guitarist, vocalist, and generalist musician. He is equally passionate and experienced with horses and eager to share his love of horses, musics, fitness and food to help clients transition to a sustainable, healthy lifestyle that leaves everyone laughing and feeling their best.
John and Stephanie first met while serving on the church worship team together, and eventually formed a friendship that ultimately led to a life-changing relationship. Together, they trained in powerlifting and shared in their first competition together. They re-ignited each others love for music and horses, and encouraged each other to pursue their passions. Every day, they find joy and laughter in shared experiences and can often be found teaching each other something about physiology, nutrients, mental health, work-life balance, music, or random facts.
Both John and Stephanie have had their own life experiences with many ups and downs before meeting each other. It is through those experiences they each grew to become more resilient and knowledgable of their individual gifts and passions. They quickly realized they both had a yearning and passion to help others live their best lives, and that starts by feeling good in your own skin. That's when the vision of Helping Hands Ranch was born.
As true compliments to each other, Stephanie brings the science and medicine while John brings the fitness and nutrition focus. Their combined love of music and horses lead to the concept of a community-bulidng service that tends to all aspects of health: physical, mental, and spiritual. Truly a place of transformation that re-ignites the love of self, love of family, and love of community.
